OUR VISION & MISSION

VISION

Poamoho Bible Church has set forth as its vision Matthew 5:14, “Ye are the light of the world.  A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid” and Acts 1:8 “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.”

As members of Poamoho Bible Church (PBC), we are to be the “light” and share the blessed gospel (Romans 15:20, 5:8, John 3:16-17).  We are to be witnesses in our Jerusalem defined as Poamoho Village, our family, friends, and neighbors.  Our Judea is the communities of Helemano, Whitmore Village, Haleiwa, and Waialua (North Shore).  These areas include a population of approximately 22,000 residents within a radius of 5-10 miles that have no Independent Fundamental Church.  Our Samaria will include the several areas or “pockets” of homeless who live within or near to Poamoho and Whitmore Villages.  The uttermost part of the earth will be to support and send missionaries, establish teen mission trips, and, Lord willing, send disciple-led Christians from PBC to the mission field as church planters.

MISSION

We will support the vision through the Acts 2:42 mandate that Poamoho Bible Church (PBC) will continue steadfastly in the apostle’s doctrine, in fellowship (koinonia), breaking of bread (communion), and prayer.  We will train, assist, and prepare the next generation for the “harvest” as in Matthew 9:37.  And, as in Acts 6, we will commit by faith through prayer that Poamoho Bible Church will be able to support a full-time pastor within the next 3-5 years.  We also seek God’s providence to purchase the lot near the entrance of Poamoho Village and erect a church building.  Since a fire destroyed a community building that served as our church meeting location, we have been meeting in tents for the last several years.  Our services include Sunday School and Morning Worship at Poamoho Village, Sunday Night Service at Pastor Araki’s house, and Wednesday Bible Church at Poamoho Village Park (at 4:30pm before the sun sets).

In conclusion, we are cognizant and careful to give God the glory (1 Corinthians 10:31), and to know that He adds to the church (Acts 2;47), and as some plant, and some water, God gives the increase (1 Corinthians 3:6).  We commit our vision and mission to what is directed in Philippians 4:6, that we “Be anxious over nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication.”

BUILDING PROJECT

Poamoho Bible Church has been under the direction of Pastor Rob Araki for the last five years. With the permission of the Poamoho Village Board of Directors, we would like to continue to serve and share God's gospel not only in Poamoho but also in the surrounding areas from Whitmore down to the North Shore.

Toward that goal, PBC seeks the possibility of acquiring the property that lies to the left as you enter Poamoho Village. It is on that property that we propose to build a main sanctuary and 2 two-story buildings.

Having a permanent structure will allow PBC to more fully provide the services that we feel God has entrusted us to pursue. These include the Sunday morning and evening services and Wednesday youth programs with a prayer meeting to follow.

Poamoho Bible Church does not want to stand in isolation, but we hope to be an integral part of the overall "master plan" for Poamoho Village and serve as the "light and beacon" in the Central and North Shore regions of Oahu.
